2020 PROGRAM AND INFORMATIONS COMING SOON

The WASAA group offers  in 2020 (13-31 January) a 3 week program dedicated to Australian students from BSc to PhD. This is a unique opportunity to discover the French culture in a traditional and beautiful area by the Atlantic ocean.

The classes include hot topics for the naval industry like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Human Factors, Robotic as well as Industry visits, French language initiation, and many social activities with French and international students.

Accommodation will be provided on our seaside campus offering many opportunities to interact with local students.

It is possible to plan a tour in Paris or in other European main cities before or after the summer school.

Courses

The program will allow students to explore the latest trends in information technologies, including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, optical and satellite communications.

It will also be a first introduction to laboratory research work as well as a discovery of the French academic environment.

The first week of the summer school will be devoted to French courses as well as company visits (Thales and Naval Group) and cultural activities.

The 2020 program is under construction but you can still consult the 2019 program for reference.

The third week will be devoted to small group projects in the research laboratories of academic partners.

Validation & Credits

The validation of the summer school will be done in a differentiated way each week

Students who meet the requirements of the three weeks will be awarded 6 credits (ECTS).

Sport

The campus is well equipped with two sport halls and great outdoor areas. Football is of course very popular but basket-ball, badminton, rock climbing, fitness and many others are available.

Visits & Activities

Cultural visits will give you a chance to discover Brest and its beautiful surroundings. The program also includes many social activities with French and international students.

Included in your program:

The bulky ruins of the medieval Abbaye de St-Mathieu

Indutry visits will offer opportunities to meet engineers working in the naval sector and understand their challenges.

Accommodation

The students will live on campus overlooking the ocean, at the Maisel (student residences), in individual bedrooms.

If you want to book a room in one of our residences on campus, please specify this when you register: the cost for 3 weeks is about 300€.

Shared cooking facilities are available but most students choose to enjoy the quality of our local products in our restaurant. The cost for a full meal (lunch or dinner) is 3,65€

Fees are 1500€ *

Accommodation, insurance and travel are not included.

We can arrange student’s pick up at Brest’s airport or at the train station.

*Students nominated by a partner university of the WASAA group will not be charged fees.
